I love when high school friends slip into my inbox. I love seeing the partner they’ve chosen, the kids they’ve created, the interests they’ve pursued. It’s even better when I get to check back in on their siblings.
Simon and I were in percussion together, so we spent a lot of time messing around with the other drummers when we should have been practicing our small group ensemble. We also went to college in Milwaukee together, and Milwaukee is the last time I’ve seen him. So, I was delighted to hear that he and his family were moving back to Minnesota after some time in the northwest.
In a truly farm-town family move, they all agreed to show up in Northfield at 8 am for a 14-person family session. The teenager was a great sport, as was the 2-year-old. There was such an air of familiarity that at times I almost felt like I was photographing my own family. It’s clear they love each other by showing up for one another, and are close enough to poke some fun at each other.
Simon & Co., thanks so much for reaching out. It was great reconnecting and getting to meet your adorable offspring!
