I first met Helen and Silas while interrupting their Blue Monday coffee date. I was on a photoshoot for Carleton, and I needed some student models. They were a picture-perfect pair, and we definitely ended up using their photo of two students enjoying a beautiful afternoon in downtown Northfield in one of our admissions pieces.
As a thank you for their gracious willingness to be photographed, I made sure to send them their photos. About a year later, Helen reached out about senior photos, and I was so touched! Helen and Silas met during their new student week orientation at Carleton, and they’ve been together ever since. I can’t believe how completely smitten they still are with each other; they’re both so gentle and sweet with each other, and very easily make the other laugh.
Needless to say, we had a lot of fun on their joint senior photo session. We went to some of their favorite Carleton spots — the Hill of Three Oaks, the Arb, and the Weitz — and got a ton of adorable photos. Helen and Silas, I’m so happy I interrupted you a couple of years ago, and I can’t wait to see where your paths’ lead next. Thank you for being so willing to experiment — even at 7 am on a chilly May morning!
