Almost four months later, thinking about Emily and Jonah’s beautiful wedding day still makes me smile. Emily and Jonah met while students at St. Olaf College, so it was only fitting that we did their portraits on Olaf’s beautiful campus. To see their friends light up on the steps of Old Main as the couple approach was a highlight of the day. These two hold such good company, and are clearly beloved by everyone who was there that day.
I also started crying during the ceremony, as Emily’s dad directed a choir of Oles in one of the purest harmonies of a wedding hymn I’ve ever heard. From their hand-written vows, and honestly, just how sweet and gentle and loving they were with each other all day, it’s clear Emily and Jonah have a really deep love. Emily is a bit sassy, but also self-assured and incredibly sweet. Jonah is steady, sincere, and can hold his own on the dance floor. Together, they have a maturity beyond their ages, but also share a good sense of humor.
After the ceremony, we gathered at a farm just east of Northfield for an absolutely perfect summer evening amidst the rolling farm hills. We escaped to the gravel roads and fields for a little golden hour glitter, and then everyone energetically hit the dance floor.
Emily and Jonah, thanks so much for inviting me along on this beautiful day. Cheers to many years of laughter and love!
