I obviously love all my family sessions, but it’s extra special when I get to spend time with my immediate family for a photoshoot. My twin nieces and toddler nephew are at such a fun age, and so I’ll take any excuse to spend some time with them.
This was admittedly a whirlwind session, 100% subject to the moods of the kids, but this is why I enjoy the editing process: it gives me a chance to relive their silly faces, their intense curiosities, and love of their parents. Jason joined me behind the scenes for this one, so it was a whole family affair.
Some highlights:
Anna’s A+ winking skills and ability to be easily distracted by flowers
Emma’s stunning model pose in the car right as we were wrapping up
Ethan’s independent streak on full display, making the smiles we could coax out of him that much sweeter
All three of them being really, really into the gopher dirt piles dotted all over the Kasota Prairie
Seeing my eldest brother shine as a father. The way the girls crack up around him reminds me of the way I couldn’t stay mad at him when I was little.
Yet another wave of admiration for my sister-in-law who managed to style the kids as they had their hands in the dirt, and still be patient and amazingly put together herself as they immediately tumbled back through the grasses and dirt.
I love this crew so much.
