This was one of those manifested photoshoots. I had been dreaming and scheming about how to work Northfield’s popular soft serve spot — The Blast — into a photoshoot before it closed for the season. Then, out of the blue, I got an email from Renee asking if her and her son could get creative with a little photo session: “Maybe The Blast??” Me: “How were you reading my mind?”
Sonny and Renee are one of the most adorable, photogenic duos I’ve had the privilege of photographing. They don’t live too far from me, so we met up in Central Park in Northfield to get out some wiggles and giggles before loading up on sugar. (The Blast’s signature move is giving you 10x the amount of soft serve ice cream you expect.) Sonny got brain freeze, but we still managed a really delightful stroll along the Cannon River, before wrapping things up in Bridge Square.
Renee and Sonny have a seemingly easy relationship with each other, where they are clearly both their own person, but are also really in awe of each other. Also, PSA: Someone needs to get Sonny a modeling contract asap. Thanks, you two, for making my ice cream session dreams come true!
