Wow wow wow. I could not have asked for a better couple or more love- and fun-filled wedding for my first foray into wedding photography. While I have three older brothers, Tyler is the little brother I never had. I met him while working for his family’s dude ranch in Colorado, and I still remember him coming into the kitchen to kindly assure me my soups weren’t awful, or adding seasoning where necessary. Fast forward more than a decade, and he and his wonderful partner Mitch are living in Minnesota and planning to get married outside of my current hometown. What a dream!
Not only did I get to see all of my Colorado ranch family again, I got to meet Mitch’s generous kin, enjoy their three very cute and furry flower puppies — Butters, Aspen, and Ruby — and fully absorb what a gorgeous venue Red Barn Farm is for weddings. Tyler and Mitch pulled everyone helping with the day into the fold like they were family and threw a helluva good party. So much thought went into this day, from the crafting of their vows to the holding-hands cast to the people they chose to surround themselves with. Their personalities came through in all of the funny and stylish details (the feather bowtie and Bernese Mountain dog socks were a personal favorites). Their love showed up in Coors cheers with their wedding party, the silly faces in between couple shots, and deep embraces all throughout the day.
Let it also be stated: this was an A+ dancing crowd. From the adorable nephew ring bearers to Mitch’s parents belting out “Sweet Caroline” to all of the ranch folks I remember dancing with on square dance night reminding me how well they know how to boogie, these folks turned out.
Tyler and Mitch, it was an honor to lay witness to this day. Thank you for taking a risk on me and letting me be part of the family. I’m so glad you have each other, and grateful you’re just up the road! Cheers to a lifetime of laughter, puppy cuddles, and negotiating Tyler’s love of all barnyard animals.
