While I’ve done engagement photos before, I’ve never been part of the actual engagement itself. Needless to say, I was about as nervous as Michael heading into this shoot…but also, so excited! The fall stars aligned to create a PERFECT October evening for a farm engagement and family session. I grew up riding around our farm on a golf cart, and so riding along with Michael, Kiley, and Colten (and engagement surprise assistant Morgan!) felt so familiar and sweet. I also love that this relationship got elevated to next level on the family farm. It felt special, intimate, and relaxed.
We started off under the premise that we were all here for family photos. 10-month-old Colten was such a happy little guy. After that, all pressure was on Michael to pop the question. After a few back-to-back photos, Kiley turned around to find him on his knee. Morgan and Colten and I were definitely cheering along as she accepted, and after that, all the nerves of the shoot transitioned into joy…and lots of capturing of Kiley’s gorgeous ring.
We ended the night with a stroll through a newly-combined field and some last family photos with Tito, who was a trooper despite his broken leg.
Kiley and Michael, thank you so much for trusting me to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment! Y’all are already such a sweet family, and I’m really excited for you as you embark on this next chapter.
